With a budget of $58,000 you can absolutely create a beautiful, considered celebration—especially with thoughtful planning and by avoiding overspending in any one area. This guide is based on a 100-guest Sydney wedding at an exclusive reception venuw and is designed to provide clarity, transparency, and ultimately reduce the pressure that can come with unrealistic expectations.
This budget has been shaped in response to surveys from Easy Weddings, Wedding Wonderland, and reporting from Forbes Australia, #weddingtok, and my own research on reddit here.
It’s also important to understand that pricing is relatively consistent across Sydney. Staff wages, quality food, materials, and operational costs like rent are largely standard across the board. This is why location becomes such an important consideration, if you are investing at this level, you want the setting to match.
This is exactly why Mosman is such a compelling place to get married. You’re not paying more, but you are gaining iconic views, beautiful locations, and a sense of destination, all within the same cost framework as the rest of Sydney.
If you have questions or think some baseline prices should be adjusted, I’d genuinely love to hear from you.

VENUE + CATERING
$24,000+
This will almost always be your biggest line item — and for good reason.
Across Mosman and greater Sydney, venue packages typically sit between $180–$300 per guest, depending on the service style. I’m including alcohol here because while venues may advertise a $140 package, beverages are almost always added on in practice.
Timing makes a significant difference.
A Saturday night in peak summer will always cost more than a Sunday lunch in winter. It’s worth asking venues for both options before deciding — the same space can feel entirely different depending on the day and format.
To put it into perspective:
A $20,000 budget can secure an exclusive harbourside venue on a Friday evening, complete with canapés and food stations. If your heart is set on a full sit-down reception at a harbour side venue on a Saturday night during peak season, expect to invest $30,000 or more. If neither option fits your budget, consider reducing your guest list and opting for a beautiful lunchtime micro-wedding. A seated Sunday lunch at a restaurant for a smaller group could come under $5,000—while still delivering a stunning location and unforgettable photos.
If you can make it work, it can absolutely be worth it. But it’s also okay to reset expectations. I chose a Friday for my own wedding, and that one decision opened up far more flexibility — financially and creatively.
Sometimes the smartest planning move isn’t increasing the budget.
It’s shifting the timing so the day still feels exceptional without the pressure.
PHOTOGRAPHY
$4,500+
Photography with an experienced Mosman or Sydney photographer typically ranges between $4,000–$8,000. Most couples who begin at the lower end find themselves stretching once they start comparing portfolios — the difference in experience, consistency, and storytelling becomes very clear.
This is one category where compromise rarely feels worth it.
If your budget sits closer to $4,500, it’s realistic to expect coverage finishing around the mock cake cutting rather than late-night dancing. And honestly, that’s often the smarter choice — it’s far better to have a highly skilled photographer for a shorter window than full-day coverage from someone delivering average results.
Guest photos and phone snaps can extend the story.
But the quality of professional imagery can’t be recreated later.
VIDEOGRAPHY
$4,000+
Video created a beutiful memeory and brides and grooms are videographgers are know including gorgous options like super 8 film.
Expect $4,000 for experienced Sydney videographers who capture not just the ceremony, but the atmosphere, movement, and sound of the day.
CONTENT CREATION
$2,200+
This newer category focuses on fast, social-ready coverage — usually vertical imagery and short-form video delivered within 24–48 hours.
Think of it as the modern version of the traditional newspaper wedding announcement: immediate, shareable, and story-driven.
Content creators are not a substitute for videographers.
They serve a completely different purpose — speed and social storytelling rather than cinematic documentation.
FLOWERS AND STYLING
$3,500+
This is where budgets often stretch.
Simple bouquets and centrepieces may sit around $3,500, but arbours, installations, and fully styled receptions can quickly reach $8,000+. If your Pinterest board is full, expect this category to reflect it.
DRESS
$3,500+
Mosman and Sydney brides typically spend $3,500–$6,000 once alterations, veils, and accessories are included.
SUIT
$1,800+
Grooms attire generally starts $1,800, depending on whether you hire or purchase.
HAIR + MAKEUP
$1,800+
With trials, travel, and bridal party services, most Mosman and Sydney bookings land between $1,800–$2,800.
ENTERTAINMENT
$2,700+
DJs typically begin around $2,700+ while live bands climb quickly from there.
Ceremony musicians are often separate, usually adding another $400–$800.
CAKE AND STATIONERY
$2,200+
These two almost always exceed expectations.
Custom stationery suites often sit between $800–$1,500, and modern cakes designed for 100 guests rarely stay under $800–$1,200.
TRANSPORT
$1,300+
Bridal cars, guest shuttles, and inter-venue logistics add up quickly — especially if you’re moving between ceremony and reception locations or hosting guests across multiple suburbs.
CELBRANT
$1,300+
Most Mosman and Sydney celebrants charge $1300+ depending on experience, customisation, and whether rehearsal attendance is included.
ACCOMODATION
$1,500+
This isn’t indulgent — it’s strategic.
Your day begins with meaningful preparation time and ends with the calm of having somewhere beautiful to land. And if it is raining the hotel interior can be a location for photos. Many couples choose two rooms for separate preparations and have a private reveal moment and portraits together on site so they can make cocktail hour.
A $1500 budget allows two rooms at The Albert Mosman (excluding New Years Eve and public holidays).
EMERGENCY FUND
$2,200
Every Sydney wedding includes surprise costs — overtime, vendor meals, last-minute styling tweaks, transport add-ons, print reorders, unexpected guest changes.
Without a buffer, these feel stressful.
With one, they simply become part of the day.
Have an emergency fund.
And if you don’t use it, spend it on the honeymoon.

Your wedding day begins with cherished moments spent preparing with loved ones, and ends with the comfort and tranquility of a perfect night’s stay. Let us be part of both.
