Chowder Bay, tucked along the Sydney Harbour foreshore, is a little gem waiting to be discovered. With calm water, bushland surrounds, and beautiful historic buildings, it has such a peaceful, picturesque feel — perfect for wedding photos or even a small, intimate ceremony.
Clifton Gardens is the ultimate blend of seaside charm and serene parklands, just around the corner from Chowder Bay. With its pristine sandy beach, wide green lawns, and that calm harbour water, it has such a relaxed, beautiful feel — perfect for wedding photos or even a laid-back post-ceremony gathering with your favourite people.
The pier and jetty add that timeless coastal touch, and the sweeping harbour views make every photo feel instantly iconic. It’s one of those locations that feels tucked away, yet delivers that classic Sydney magic in every direction.
I haven’t been able to find clear permit information for photography here either
Parking for Chowder and Clifton Gardens: The paid car park at Clifton Gardens Reserve on Morella Road varies by season and day — in peak (summer) periods, expect around $7 per hour Monday–Friday and up to about $10 per hour on weekends/holidays, with all-day maximums typically around $40.
It’s usually easiest to pay using the Park’nPay app or at the pay machines.
For a harbour side location this beautiful, it’s an absolute gem and close to Le Heritage, Ripples, and Sergeants Mess.

Harbour bridges, and the Sydney Opera House in one place.
Framed by a secluded mini-beach, historic sandstone, native bushland, and sweeping harbour views, this location offers an incredible variety of backdrops -all within the same space. It’s rare to find a spot where you can capture beach vistas, harbour bridges, and the Sydney Opera House in one place.
Perfectly positioned, Bradleys Head is just a walk from both Athol Hall and Taronga Zoo. It’s worth having someone drop you off nearby so you don’t have to trek in wedding shoes.
Once you reach the amphitheatre, you’ll notice a small beach tucked to the left, with iconic views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge.
I’ve visited on both rainy and sunny days. A rainy day brings beautiful umbrellas and some stunning moody beach shots, wow! On a sunny day, be prepared for heat, but the brilliant blue sky makes up for it. If you’re planning a ceremony here, consider scheduling it later in the day to avoid harsh midday light and heat.
Parking:
Parking is $8 per vehicle per day. Download the Park’N’Pay app and select Bradleys Head Walking Track (ID: SHR17V). This is the closest parking option to the amphitheatre—perfect for brides in heels!
Exclusive Use:
If you want the space to yourself, the site is managed by National Parks and can be booked for exclusive use. A three-hour booking (with NPWS supervision included) is $1,060.
